Vision for Learning

The core business of St Mary's College is focused on deep learning through quality pedagogical practices for all students that are based in evidence of how girls learn best. All learning is underpinned by the Catholic perspectives that permeate operations at the College and support students to discover and embody the truth of the Gospel. As a Brisbane Catholic Education school in the Mercy Tradition, it is our aim to educate all students to be confident and successful citizens who look to Jesus and Catherine McAuley as role models.

We believe that every student can achieve success. Through lessons that ignite curiosity, active and collaborative experiences are planned for the attainment of knowledge and skills. Teachers set high expectations of students in the classroom so that they are learners who are engaged, motivated and drivers of their own educational outcomes.

Teachers use classroom practices that engage students at their level to work towards achieving educational goals. The Australian Curriculum, Religious Education Curriculum Archdiocese of Brisbane P-12 and QCAA Syllabi are delivered using contemporary pedagogical practices that support the goals of the Alice Springs (Mparntwe) Education Declaration 2019.
