“Providing the best education for our daughters in a Catholic environment of love, care, respect, encouragement and opportunity.”
The parents of St Mary’s College share a common goal; to provide the best education for their daughter/s in a Catholic Christian environment of love, care, respect, encouragement and opportunity for them as individuals.
The College has a very active Parents and Friends Association. Their focus is to look for opportunities to increase the involvement of parents in the community. They assist in many areas through financial support as well as catering for functions such as the Combined College Musical and hosting the New Parent Welcome evening. Opportunities for information evenings are also a priority for the Parents and Friends Association.
There are two formal opportunities for parents to attend Parent Teacher Interviews but this partnership is encouraged throughout the year via other modes of communication. This includes email, student handbook, telephone or face to face interviews which can be organised at any time throughout the year upon request.
Parents are members of the Pastoral Board, providing support to the College Principal in the area of policy making, budgeting and strategic planning.
Regular communication is maintained with parents via the fortnightly College Newsletter. This is emailed and published on the College Website. Parent consultation and feedback is sought regularly to provide information on performance as well as to inform future directions.
Parent Information Evenings are held for various year levels at strategic times to assist with the transition from one phase to the next. As well, parents are invited to attend SET (Senior Education and Training) Plan interviews in Year 10, to help consolidate planning for the senior years, and possible career options post schooling.
An invitation is extended to all parents and members of the wider community to attend all College celebrations, concerts, masses and carnivals. The College is well supported on these occasions.
