Aerospace and Aviation
St Mary’s College is the only all girls school in Queensland that is part of The Aerospace Gateway to Industry Schools program (AGISP).
The AGISP was established to support the growth and development of an effective workforce for the aviation industry sector. This program provides opportunities for young people to undertake structured workplace learning, school-based apprenticeships and traineeships, full-time employment and further study through industry-school partnerships. The program has proven essential in meeting the Queensland Government’s aim of transitioning young people from school to work while completing school and gaining formal qualifications.
Under the agreement, St Mary’s College offers a Certificate II in Engineering Pathways and a Certificate III in Aviation (Remote Pilot). The agreement guarantees entry into a Bachelor of Aviation for graduates of the College who have completed the Certificate III in Aviation.
St Mary’s College has a Collaborative Agreement (Nursing) with the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), giving students a direct pathway into a career in nursing.
Under the agreement, 20 eligible St Mary’s Year 12 students have a guaranteed place in the USQ Bachelor of Nursing degree when they graduate high school. Interested students must submit a written application, and shortlisted students are then interviewed by a panel of USQ and St Mary’s College representatives.
Students are assured a clinical placement in the Ipswich and West Moreton area in their first year of study with USQ.
