USQ Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship

Seventeen-year-old Chloe Freeman loves being outdoors, travelling and spending time with her friends. She is also a hardworking and motivated student with clear direction for the future.

In addition to her senior studies, the St Mary’s College student heard about the USQ Head Start Program at school and eagerly enrolled.

Not only did Chloe pass, but she exceeded her own expectations.

“We were delighted to hear that Chloe loved the program and passed with Distinction,” shared Principal Judith Finan.

USQ’s program allows a student to start while at school and the first course is free.

“If you are considering uni, I would definitely recommend that you consider the Head Start Program,” Chloe said.

“It allows you to try a subject and see what you enjoy,” added Chloe.

After completing the program, Chloe knew she wanted to head to university in 2019. She applied for a scholarship with USQ by submitting her resume and a personal statement.

Chloe received the USQ Vice Chancellors Scholarship valued at $12,000. These scholarships are offered to reward high achieving students with strong academic ability.

Chloe’s mother Michelle is over the moon for Chloe and is very grateful to St Mary’s College and USQ.

“When Chloe was informed that she had a direct passage into USQ, it relieved so much pressure and angst,” Mrs Freeman said.

“Chloe was more relaxed when taking on her final exams,” added Mrs Freeman.

Chloe will be studying nursing in 2019 and then would like to move into Pediatric Oncology.
